The New York Mets delivered a blowout 11-3 victory against the Philadelphia Phillies in the initial game of the three-game series at the Citizens Bank Park this Friday. However, the Mets lost their star shortstop Francisco Lindor to lower back soreness mid-game.
Francisco Lindor did not look his hundred percent, as his movement seemed to be a bit sluggish due to his back injury. So when the Mets had a 7-0 lead against the Phillies, the management decided to take him out of the game. Jeff Passan of ESPN reported the details of his pull-out.
Fans on social media supported Lindor and showed remorse for the Mets losing such a valuable player despite the team being victorious.

"Makes sense his back hurts from carrying this team for the year," one fan said.
"Jumping off the bridge tonight!!" Another fan stated.
Some other fans also shared a similar sentiment about Francisco Lindor's back injury.
"I hope he recovers we still need him a lot for the upcoming games," one fan wrote.
"Would be an absolute nightmare for the Mets," one fan claimed.
"He can have all three of ours back, we don’t care," one fan remarked.
"As a Braves fan we hope to see him when we play the Mets next. Hopefully nothing too major," one fan mentioned.
Carlos Mendoza breaks silence on Francisco Lindor exiting the game in between
The New York Mets have sparkled a lot of fans' eyes, as they are currently riding one of their most important stretches which might take them to the postseason. However, the Mets might suffer a setback by the absence of Francisco Lindor, and many fans hope that it's nothing serious.
Seemingly, Francisco Lindor hurt his back in the sixth inning while he was running the bases. The Mets manager Carlos Mendoza has talked about Lindor's condition and kept his words minimal.
"I think if it was a closer game, he was going to fight that one," Mendoza told reporters.
Francisco Lindor also talked about his own condition with the reporters, and gave a better outlook to fans.
"I jammed it on the base going to second base on that last play that I made. I stepped up with my right foot and just jammed my lower back so it's definitely tight enough for me to tell the other guy to let me just back off from it," Lindor said.
"I mean I'm in a spot right now where I took care of it and I just believe in what the trainers did and wake up tomorrow and see. I'll give an update tomorrow whenever I wake up and I'll talk to the trainers and we'll go from there," he added.
So, Lindor has decided to give his back problem a day at least, and he'll be coming out with the updates once he receives the report from the medical professionals.
