Freddie Freeman's eldest son was the most excited after watching his dad's Game 1 walkoff grand slam

Freddie Freeman's bomb off of Yankees pitcher Nestor Cortes in Game 1 of the World Series was historic. Not only did the jack represent the first walk-off grand slam in Fall Classic history, but it also saddled Freddie's young kids with memories they will never forget.

In a recent appearance on "New Heights", a podcast hosted by Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, a former NFL All-Pro, Freeman spoke at length about the experience.

In his comments, Freeman spoke about the importance of forcing Nestor Cortes to pitch inside to him. Freddie Freeman fielded questions about the reactions of his three young sons after the magical moment. In response, the 35-year-old claimed:

"Charlie my eight-year-old - so I hit the home run, and that's all he's asking 'daddy are you gonna be MVP?' I said Charlie, it's one game."

Freddie and his wife Chelsea welcomed their first son, Charlie, in 2016. In 2020 and 2021, just before Freeman departed from the Atlanta Braves, Chelsea welcomed son Brandon before delivering Maximus via surrogacy.

Although Charlie's words may have been premature, they were not wrong. Freddie Freeman would go on to homer in the next three games, making him the only player in World Series history to record a home run in six straight games. On account of his 4 homers and 12 RBIs in the Fall Classic, Freeman was awarded the World Series MVP Award.

Now a superstar among Los Angeles Dodgers fans, Freddie consistently impresses people with his humility and warmth. As for his children, they can certainly now be assured that their father is among MLB's best.

Freddie Freeman seeks to emulate his father

Having lost his mother to cancer in childhood, Freeman credits his father, Fred, for helping him achieve his dreams. As Freeman said after the Game 1 win:

"This isn’t my moment, that’s my dad’s moment, my approach is because of him. I am who I am because of him."

Growing up with an active father, making his sons as proud is a priority for Freddie. After Charlie's heartwarming questions after Game 1 of the World Series, it is clear that Freeman is already well on his way to achieving the same status with his sons.
