Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Freddie Freeman returned to Truist Part to face his former team Atlanta Braves for the first time this season on Friday. Freddie's wife shared a heartfelt reaction to the Dodgers star's return to his old stomping ground.
Freddie Freeman was drafted by the Braves in 2007 and started his MLB journey in 2010. Freeman rose to stardom with seven All-Star selections and the NL MVP accolade in 2020 with the Braves. He capped off his decade-long stint with the franchise with a World Series triumph in 2021.
Despite Freddie's unceremonious exit from the Braves in 2022, which saw him sign for the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency, Braves fans still have lots of love for their former star first baseman. He was greeted with a loud ovation on Friday and his wife Chelsea shared the post via her Instagram account.
"Home away from home," Chelsea captioned her story.
Freddie and Chelsea tied the knot in November 2014 after reportedly dating for three years. They are blessed with three sons; Charlie, Brandon John and Maximus Turner.
Braves show support to Freddie Freeman's family with heartfelt gesture
Freddie Freeman's three-year old son Charlie was diagnosed with a rare neurogical disorder, Guillain-Barre Syndrome in August. Charlie was kept in the pediatric ICU for a week before returning home to continue his recovery.
Freddie's former team displayed support for the Freeman family by donating to the GBS|CIDP foundation in the former Braves star's son's name.
"Before tonight’s game, Atlanta Braves President & CEO, Derek Schiller, and Manager Brian Snitker presented Freddie Freeman and Chelsea with a donation in Max Freeman’s name to @gbscidp."
While the Braves organization showed love to Freddie Freeman off the field, it hasn't been the same for Freddie's team at Truist Park. The Braves thrased the Dodgers 10-1 on Saturday to make it two wins in two against the NL West leaders.
An injury-plagued Dodgers rotation lost Tyler Glasnow to an elbow injury, reportedly for the rest of the season, further short-handing the pitching staff.
