The Los Angeles Dodgers ended their three-game skid after thrashing the New York Mets on Sunday to avoid a series sweep. Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow asserted his belief in the team's ability despite their indifferent start to the season.

Glansow bounced back from his torrid game against the Washington Nationals to strike out 10 hitters after an eight-inning masterclass. His prolonged pitching performance helped the Dodgers avoid their first series sweep of the season.

While the World Series contenders lost their third consecutive series following their defeat in the second game on Saturday, Glasnow displayed his faith in the star-studded team's ability to turn things around after an indifferent start to the season.

“If I'm being honest, I wasn't ever super worried about it,” said Glasnow. “I think we all know how talented our team is. It's obviously important [to stop a skid], but I think with it being this early in the year, I was never too worried about us, like, not hitting for the rest of the year. It was gonna come back eventually.”

Dave Roberts hails Tyler Glasnow's prolonged effort in impressive Dodgers win

Tyler Glasnow joined future Hall of Fame contender Clayton Kershaw as the only other Dodgers starter to pitch eight innings since 2022.

Glasnow's 10 strikeouts was his second double-digit figure after his 14-strikeout game against the Minnesota Twins in early April. Manager Dave Roberts praised the star pitcher for his extended run from the mound on Sunday to provide relief to the under-fire bullpen.

“Today was a great one, and he impacted us in a lot of ways,” Dave Roberts said. “Starting pitchers that have been around, they understand what's at stake when they take the baseball that particular start.
And today, we were in the middle of it as far as workload in the ‘pen recently, going into an off-day. To give our guys a chance to reset, have two days down, was huge.”

Glasnow's impressive outing and Shohei Ohtani's record-breaking home run against the Mets displayed the best the team has to offer. The Dodgers will hope to improve their record when they face off against a struggling Washington Nationals for a three-game series, commencing on Tuesday.
