Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm Jr. will most likely be out of the lineup for the New York Yankees' weekend series versus the Boston Red Sox. They are both inching close to return, but aren’t 100% there yet, per manager Aaron Boone.

The same goes for Yankees pitcher Luke Weaver, who might even make an early return from his rehab, given if everything goes well. Giancarlo Stanton’s return date is highly unlikely to be within the weekend, as he is expected to play his fourth rehab game with Double-A Somerset.

However, Boone is not completely scratching him off the list, adding that "stranger things have happened.” Given his at-bat records at Fenway Park, the team and fans will be missing him on the field.

“His at-bats look good. He’s very detailed and particular about how he feels," Boone said via MLB.com. "He feels like his timing is pretty good right now. He feels up to speed on the fastball. My sense, in the little bit of communication I’ve had with him this week, is that he feels like he’s close.”

Stanton missed all of Spring Training due to tennis elbow in both of his arms. His return will also challenge the Yankees to rethink their DH position. So far, Ben Rice, Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez have spent time in the designated spot.

Since leaving Wednesday’s game in the fifth inning against the Kansas City Royals with a groin injury, the team has been careful with Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s return timeline. To avoid any further IL visits, manager Aaron Boone mentioned they’ll take some more time before confirming his return.

However, getting sidelined has been frustrating for the NY Yankees third baseman. Although Chisholm did admit that Wednesday’s early exit has saved him from more complications with the injury.

“I was very upset [Wednesday]. That’s [five] seasons in a row, more than [five] injuries in the last [five] seasons," Chisholm said via NYPost.com. "So it kind of sucks, and it’s frustrating. And I feel like I do everything the right way.”

He added how he takes care of both his on and off-the-field routines seriously, with massages, diet and exercise.

The Yankees begin their three-game series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Friday.
