Mike Trout sends heartfelt greeting in celebration of Father’s Day

Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout recently shared a message in celebration of Father's Day. The 33-year-old, who himself is a father, published a quite detailed and heartfelt passage for dads around the world.

The multi-time MVP lauded all the fathers and proclaimed that being one is one of the greatest things that a person could become. He also expressed his gratitude to his own dad and his father-in-law.

After a long relationship with his girlfriend Jessica Cox, the two chose to tie the know on December 9, 2017. Then on July 30, 2020, Mike and Jessica welcomed their first offspring named Beckham Aaron.

Away from the field, the Angels superstar spends his time bonding with his young son. The duo even shared a video while unboxing a box of baseball cards.

In a surprising twist of events, Mike actually pulled a signed version of his own 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft card.

Mike Trout bounces back after injury

After several injury setbacks throughout his career, the biggest worry in the minds of Mike Trout's fans and colleagues is if he will can stay healthy throughout his a full season. The nightmare then turned into reality when the former MVP was sidelined on May 1 due to a bone bruise in his left knee. At that point, the Angels star was just batting .194/.279/.596.

Since his return on May 30, however, he has improved his averages and, just recently, adopted a different role within the team.

Since his return, he has batted .327/.414/.469. From a dismal sub-.200 batting average, the Angels superstar has pulled his averages to .226/.313/.465 with 11 home runs, 27 runs batted in, and two stolen bases — all while doing his stint as the designated hitter.

Per club skipper Ron Washington's interview with MLB.com, the outfield superstar is scheduled to be utilized as the primary DH until the player states that he's ready for a return to the outfield.

“[Trout will be the DH] for now. He’ll let us know when he feels good enough that he can go out there,” said Washington.

With their biggest star being used as the designated hitter, a carousel of outfielders featuring Jo Adell, Taylor Ward, Jorge Soler, and the recently-signed LaMonte Wade Jr. are being rotated to fill the void.
