Don't be surprised if he sees great success at the plate early on.Francisco Alvarez could be the sparkplug this team needsWashington Nationals vs. New York MetsFrancisco Alvarez was signed as an international free agent in 2018 out of Venezuela. He began his career as a 17-year-old with the GCL Mets, becoming the youngest player in the league. He only lasted seven games in the league before he was called up to the Kingsport Mets. In 35 games for the Kingsport Mets, he slashed .282/.377/.443.From 2021-2022 he spent his time moving up the ranks in the minor leagues. He'd hit a snag in July of last season as doctors discovered loose bodies in his right ankle. The injury limited his production at the plate, but a cortisone shot kept him from missing time. That's the kind of guy you want to play for your team. Even though he was dealing with an ankle injury, he did everything that he could to stay on the field and help his team.Look for Francisco Alvarez to step up and take hold of the starting catcher role. He's healthy and ready to show the world his talents.
