It has not exactly been a season to write home about for Lenyn Sosa and the Chicago White Sox. In fact, the White Sox find themselves entering an unenviable territory as the slumping club could threaten the all-time record for the most losses in an MLB season. Currently, they sit at the bottom of the standings with a dreadful 31-103 record.

Well, things have gone from bad to downright embarrassing for Sosa. During Wednesday night's 4-3 loss to the Texas Rangers, an errant throw from White Sox catcher Chucky Robinson flew over pitcher Jared Shuster, hitting Lenyn Sosa directly in the face.

Needless to say, the comical incident did not go unnoticed among baseball fans. Many took to social media to declare Sosa's hit in the face a symbol of the club's dismal season so far.

For many, Lenyn Sosa being hit in the face felt like just another knock against the White Sox's disastrous season so far. The club has been in a free-fall this campaign, with the franchise not only opting to trade away a number of their veterans, such as Eloy Jimenez, but also firing manager Pedro Grifol.

Lenyn Sosa getting hit in the face was not the only tough moment during Wednesday's loss

While having one of your starting infielders hit in the face with a baseball by a teammate might be difficult enough, it was not the only moment of the night that left a sting for fans.

Despite their obvious struggles all season, the Chicago White Sox almost pulled off a massive upset against the reigning World Series champs. Unfortunately for the White Sox, the keyword is 'almost'.

One of the White Sox's longest-tenured stars, Andrew Vaughn, almost put the Rangers on its back in the bottom of the 9th inning. The slugger crushed a ball toward the left field fence in what looked like a walk-off home run.

Instead, Rangers outfielder Travis Jankowski pulled back the home run with arguably the catch of the season, ending the White Sox's upset bid. Texas went on to win 4-3.
