The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Mets played their second game of the four-game series scheduled at Citi Field. Cristopher Sanchez (10-9, 3.24 ERA) took the mound for the Phillies, while southpaw David Peterson (9-2, 2.85 ERA) started the game for the Mets.

Peterson retired three straight to put a blank in the first inning. In the other half, Jose Iglesias went yard for a solo shot off Sanchez for the game's first run. Brandon Nimmo's groundout led Starling Marte to score as the Mets took an early 2-0 lead.

Alec Bohm cut the deficit in half as he reached home on a sac fly by Edmundo Sosa in the second. In the third, on Nick Castellanos' double, Bryce Harper scored from third while Bohm was cut short at home. However, this tied the game 2-2, but the Phillies lost an opportunity to take the lead.

The top of the fourth is where all the fun started in this game. Johan Rojas' ground rule double drove in Sosa and Weston Wilson to give the Phillies a 4-2 lead. David Peterson was replaced by Adam Ottavino on the mound. The reliever gave up an RBI single to Trea Turner as Rojas reached home for the Phillies' fifth run in the game.

A three-run home run from Alec Bohm off Ottavino ballooned the Phillies' lead to 8-2 in the fourth inning.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Cristopher Sanchez continued to pitch well for the Phillies. He left the game after pitching five innings, where he allowed two earned while striking out seven hitters.

Another multi-run inning for the Phillies came in the sixth inning. Huascar Barzoban gave up an RBI single to Alec Bohm, which drove in Kyle Schwarber and put Trea Turner at third. The Phillies shortstop would come around to score on Nick Castellanos' groundout as the visiting team extended the lead to 10-2.

A two-run home run by JT Realmuto in the eighth inning off Danny Young was the final scoring shot of the night.

The Phillies would go on to win the game 12-2, as they improved to 91-62 on the season.
