The Arizona Diamondbacks scripted an unlikely comeback by defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in the final two games to make it to their second-ever Fall Classic. The Phillies replicated the Astros in the ALCS in losing the last two at home after taking a 3-2 lead.

Some stellar pitching from the Diamondbacks enabled them to run a strong Phillies lineup cold. They held them to a combined three runs in the last two games. In Game 7 Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt dealt four innings of two-run ball and the experienced bullpen turned in the close.

With the bat, Corbin Caroll proved to be the difference. The D-backs batter hit 3-4 on the night with a decisive tying RBI in the fifth and then scored the go-ahead run. Catcher Gabriel Moreno turned provider for the latter as their team bounced back to take the lead.

For the Phillies, Alec Bohm and Bryson Stott were the only ones who batted in two runs. However, five scoreless innings followed after Stott's RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. Experienced at-bats like Trea Turner, Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos turned in zero-hit games.

For the Phillies, this was their first-ever Game 7 decider in franchise history. However, the result wasn't in their favor. Fans were left distraught with the team's performance as they expected a better showing from the home side. They took to X, formerly Twitter, to voice their opinions:

Diamondbacks setup marquee World Series clash with the Texas Rangers

One thing common about this year's pennant winners – Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers – is that they both came through 3-2 deficits on the road and defeated the defending champions in their respective leagues.

This sets up a must-see series between the two opponents. Rangers-Dbacks played out four games in the regular season with Arizona taking it 3-1. It'll be a tactical battle between both managers – Bruce Bochy and Torey Lovullo. Texas will be looking to win their first ever World Series while Arizona will look to win their first since 2001.
