The Chicago Cubs celebrated the LGBTQ+ community on Thursday at Wrigleyville. Fans came in huge numbers to support the cause, celebrating inclusivity with rainbow-colored Cubs jerseys.
Before the Cubs edged out the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 3-2 thriller, the surrounding area of Wrigley Field was filled with colors. The team's social media posted glimpses of the vibrant celebration.

A wave of support came flooding in on the internet.

How did Chicago Cubs celebrated Pride Month on Thursday?
Two days before the Pride Celebration on Thursday, the Cubs released a statement about the details of the event.
“We’ve seen firsthand how baseball brings people together, which is why our annual Pride Celebration has become a fixture at the Friendly Confines each June,” Cubs Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jen Martindale said.
“The Cubs have a longstanding history of championing the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re excited to continue that legacy while delivering an unforgettable experience for all fans. We hope to see you there!”
The Cubs welcomed LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses at Gallagher Way and held a special pre-game ceremony for Center on Halsted. Progress Pride flags were flying around the Wrigley Field Marquee.
The surroundings featured a mix of art, apparel and delicious food and drinks from LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses. DJ Lee Michaels was also there and performed.
Several businesses partake in the event, including independent art studio Vichcraft, local bakery Jennivee’s Bakery and premium lifestyle apparel brand in support of the community SOUNDOFF.
Windy City Performing Arts' Windy City Gay Chorus and Treble Quire sang the national anthem ahead of the game. Chicago Stars FC's Babett Peter and Ella Masar threw the ceremonial first pitch.
