“Still more affordable than a Super Bowl” - MLB fans react to staggering Dodgers vs. Yankees World Series ticket prices

The World Series between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers is sold out, with resale prices exceeding $1,000 for every game. This staggering price is unlike previous World Series matchups, when the two teams playing weren't the biggest in the sport.

Fans and resellers were quick to grab all the tickets available despite the price, but now, it will be tough for fans who haven't purchased a ticket yet. For just one person, the minimum they would have to spend to secure a ticket, not including travel or parking, is $1,007 to Game 1.

MLB fans are astounded, though some remarked how cheap it is compared to other championship games in American sports. The Super Bowl, for example, is notably expensive to attend.

"I probably won't watch it on TV for free! Hate both teams," one said.

"Those $850 top deck tickets from last week suddenly feel like a steal," another added.

"The amount of money being generated on ticket sales alone is insane! The capacity in Yankee Stadium is 46,537. I can’t imagine what’s the sum when including food & beverages, MLB gear and all the other extras," one chimed in.

"I’ve been saving all season for this I was prepared," another said.

Don't expect the price tags to limit fans, though. Every game is sold out, and each stadium will likely be packed each night.

New York World Series tickets are more expensive

While the cost to attend any game of the World Series this year is astronomical, the ones in New York are particularly costly. According to StubHub, the resale costs for Games 3, 4, and 5 are reportedly 40% higher than those played in LA, including the potential Games 6 and 7.

Meanwhile, the average ticket price for this year's series was $1,368 - according to Vivid Seats, another resale ticket source. This indicates that the ticket is roughly twice the $685 ticket price for last year's matchup between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks.
