On Wednesday, while speaking to SportsNet New York (SNY) Boras gave his views on the Mets signing his client Soto.

"I think it was pretty evident and the (New York) Mets have decided that they are going to pursue winning and winning for a long time," Boras said. "They had made it very clear to us that they are not limited to signing one great player (Juan Soto) but multiple great players.

Soto's contract includes a $75 million signing bonus and can rise to $805 million if the Mets upgrade his contract after the 2029 season.

According to the New York Post, after landing Juan Soto, the Mets are looking to sign another former Yankees player, Jonathan Loaisiga. The pitcher's connection to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and his signing as a low-risk player allegedly align with the Mets' strategy of improving their team through smart investments.

However, the Mets are not alone. According to SNY, the Yankees have also shown interest in signing him back, and other teams such as the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays are also in the race to sign him.

According to NJ.com, the Mets have offered Loaisiga a two-year contract worth approximately $5 million with an additional $11 million club option for the second year.

Loaisiga had a difficult 2024 season, as he only played three games due to a torn UCL in his right elbow.

Loaisiga made his MLB debut in 2018 while playing for the New York Yankees. Since then, he has a 3.44 ERA and 207 strikeouts in 163 games.

Meanwhile, Soto was traded to the New York Yankees from the San Diego Padres last year as a one-year rental.

The 26-year-old was the most valuable free agent this offseason. In 2024, he played 157 games with the Yankees. He had a .288 batting average, .419 on-base percentage, and .569 slugging percentage. He had 109 RBIs, 41 home runs and seven stolen bases.
