Babe Ruth, also known as George Herman Ruth Jr., is widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He is often referred to as the "Bambino" or the "Sultan of Swat" and is known for his impressive batting skills and record-breaking achievements. However, there has been some speculation about his ethnic roots, particularly his German ancestry.

George Herman Ruth Jr. was born on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents, George Herman Ruth Sr. and Katherine Schamberger, were both of German descent. However, Babe Ruth's maternal grandparents, Peter and Elizabeth Schamberger, were born in the United States and were of German ancestry. His father, George Herman Ruth Sr., was born in Maryland to parents from Prussia and Hanover.

Despite being of German descent, Ruth did not have a strong connection to his heritage other than the fact that German was the first language he spoke. He grew up in a working-class family in Baltimore and spent most of his childhood at St. Mary's Industrial School for boys after being sent there for being a troublemaker at home. Not much is known about his childhood.

During World War II, however, Babe Ruth's German ancestry became a point of controversy. At the time, anti-German sentiment was strong in the United States, and his German heritage was used by some to cast doubt on him. There was even talk that he was a Nazi sympathizer, though there is no evidence to back this up.

In reality, Babe Ruth was a proud American who loved and supported his country in numerous ways throughout his life. During WWII, he was a war bond spokesman and was even offered a job as a baseball coach for the US Army. He also participated in a number of charity games to raise funds for the war effort.

Babe Ruth remains one the most respected and beloved figures in the sport of baseball

Babe Ruth was of German descent, but his ethnic roots did not play a significant role in his life or career. He was an American through and through, and his contributions to baseball and to his country are remembered and celebrated to this day. His playing record in the MLB is still incredible. He has won the World Series seven times during his time with the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
