During the extra inning, with the game tied 3-3, the Yankees bullpen imploded. Fans lashed out at the team's decision to not walk Guardians' Jose Ramirez, which proved costly, as the six-time All-Star singled off Michael Tonkin to load the bases.

David Fry, in his next at-bat, cashed in with a three-run single to give the Guardians a comfortable 8-3 lead at the top of the 12th inning. Yankees fans called out manager Aaron Boone for not helping out the closer and not walking Ramirez.

"Bryan why not intentionally walk Ramirez and go after Freeman there," wondered another fan.
"can you ask boone when he’s going to retire? i can’t keep watching him ruin my life," lashed out a fan.

Several fans also took a swipe at Tonkin for imploding in the 12th inning.

"Two rejects picked up by Cashman! Mayza sucked so bad in Toronto. Tonkin nobody else wanted!" wrote another frustrated fan.
"Worst pen and coaching staff in history," wrote a fan calling out the bullpen and the staff.

Yankees fail to capitalize on fast start by Aaron Judge and Juan Soto

The New York Yankees couldn't have asked for a better start in the series opener at Yankee Stadium, as superstar sluggers Juan Soto and Aaron Judge went back-to-back in the first inning.

It was the fifth time the star duo did so in a game this season. However, by the fourth inning, the Guardians had turned things around to make it 3-3. The home team tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as the two teams kept going at each other.

However, the game went into extra innings, where the Yankees bullpen imploded in the 12th, with fans emptying the stadium after the Guardians took a five-run lead. Aaron Judge helped cut the deficit to four runs after an RBI double in the bottom 12th, but it proved to be insignificant with the visitors winning 9-5.
