Darin Ruf is a first baseman and outfielder for the New York Mets. Ruf is married to Libby Schuring, a TD Ameritrade corporate communications expert.

Libby Schuring was born on April 6, 1987, and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She is a former state tennis champion and attended the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Kansas after graduating from Westside High School. In 2008, she graduated with a BA in Strategic Communications.

She worked as an analyst for Talent Plus from 2012 to 2013. She presently works at TD Ameritrade as a corporate communications professional.

Darin Ruf and Libby met at Westside High School, where they grew closer. They began dating shortly after. The pair spent a significant amount of time apart after high school after attending different universities, yet their bond remained strong. Throughout their undergraduate years, they maintained a distant relationship.

Darin Ruf proposed to Libby while they were on vacation at the beginning of 2011. On Dec. 3, 2011, they got married.

The duo celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary in 2019. Darin shared a picture on Instagram.

Libby helped Darin through his difficult collegiate baseball career as a young player. In his bouts, Libby was always there to support and cheer him on.

The Philadelphia Phillies selected Darin Ruf in the 20th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. In 2009, he was assigned to the GCL Phillies, where he excelled before being promoted to the Williamsport Crosscutters in short season A. When Ruf hit a league-high 43 doubles in the Florida State League in 2011, his power surge started.

Ruf agreed to a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants on Jan. 23, 2020.

Ruf was traded to the New York Mets on Aug. 2, 2022. He made his debut for the Mets as a pitcher on Aug. 15 when he pitched two scoreless innings in a defeat to the Atlanta Braves, becoming the team's first regular position player to pitch more than one innings in a game.
