The New York Yankees are starting to get their star players back. While Jazz Chisholm Jr. returned after a month's hiatus last week, Giancarlo Stanton and Marcus Stroman could be back soon.

Giancarlo Stanton has not featured for the Yankees since the start of the season after sustaining tennis elbow in both arms during spring training. Stroman has been out of action since April due to left knee inflammation.

Both players were in action for Double-A Somerset on Wednesday. Stroman made his first rehab start, pitching 3⅓ innings and allowing a run. According to Brendan Kuty of the Athletic, the Yankees expect the ace to make another rehab start.

Stanton's appearance on Wednesday was his second rehab start. The reigning ALCS MVP went 2-for-3 with three RBIs on Tuesday and followed it with an RBI double on Wednesday, going 1-for-3 at the plate.

The veteran slugger could be on his way back soon and it could force Ben Rice, who is thriving as a designated hitter in Stanton's absence, to play as a catcher, per Jack Curry of Yes Network.

Aaron Boone reflects on Giancarlo Stanton's rehab start

There have been reports indicating Giancarlo Stanton could return to the Yankees lineup for their trip to Boston for a three-game series against rivals the Red Sox. Yankees manager Aaron Boone shared that Stanton won't play for Somerset on Thursday.

"I don't think the plan is for him to play [for Somerset] tomorrow, but we'll kind of get through today and see what the next step is," Boone said.

Boone also touched on a potential roster crunch for the Yankees when Stanton returns from injury as Ben Rice has done well for the team as the veteran slugger's replacement.

"It'll be tough decisions every day," Boone said, "trying to keep guys that are deserving of playing time playing regularly. But there's going to be some guys out of the lineup on a given day that should be in there, or deserve to be in there, however you want to put it. We'll just do the best we can to make sure we keep everyone sharp and everyone contributing."

The Yankees made it two wins in two against the Kansas City Royals with a 6-3 win on Wednesday as captain Aaron Judge blasted his 25th home run of the season. They will play the Royals in the series finale on Thursday before gearing up for their clash against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
