Jasson Dominguez isn't worried about getting a call-up

Top prospect Jasson Dominguez (third in the farm system) crushed a home run as part of a 1-3 day at the plate in his first Spring Training action with the New York Yankees. With a hole in left field, many fans believe Dominguez could eventually be the guy.

But that's not on the prospect's mind at all right now. Despite a potential spot for him to play even on Opening Day, Dominguez isn't worried about that right now (via SNY):

“Honestly, that’s not a thought that has crossed my mind. I’m the type of person that likes to focus on the task at hand and in front of me, especially the day-to-day. Things like that, I don’t have any control about that. To me, it’s just a laser-focused mentality on the task in front of me."

Dominguez also discussed his first home run of the spring, which was also his first at the MLB level:

“I was just looking for a good pitch to hit and put a good swing on the ball. [Big league camp has] been a learning experience and a lot of fun. I have been learning and having fun at the same time with all the guys around me. It’s been great.”

The Yankees have center field and right field locked down with Aaron Judge and Harrison Bader. Left field remains a question mark, one that Dominguez, if he continues to impress, could answer.

Dominguez may not be worried about getting that call, but it may come for him sooner or later.

Will Jasson Dominguez start for the Yankees in left field?

If the Yankees were making decisions based on one game, there's a good chance they'd name Jasson Dominguez their starting left fielder. However, there's still a way to go.

Dominguez looked good at the plate and if that keeps up, they might call him up. However, it still seems far more likely that they'll be patient with him and use Oswaldo Cabrera, Aaron Hicks or even Giancarlo Stanton in the outfield opening right now.

Dominguez looks good, but he's still a raw prospect. In time, he will likely be a starting outfielder, but that may not be in 2023.
