Matt Harvey, the former starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, was once in the middle of controversy, thanks to his ex-girlfriend Adriana Lima.

Lima, who is a Victoria's Secret model, and Harvey dated for three months, from March 2017 to May 2017. After they broke up, the model was seen with Julian Edelman, a former NFL football player. Lima and Edelman attended the 2017 Met Gala afterparty together.

Seeing his ex-flame with another man caused Harvey so much distress that the pitcher failed to show up for his team's game against the Miami Marlins the next day. Harvey was suspended for three days for this.

This led to many blaming Lima for causing the pitcher to be suspended. In an Instagram post posted on her account, the model received flak from commenters.

One of the comments posted on her post was:

“You ruined the Mets season go away,”

To which Lima tagged the user and replied with:

“No I did not. There is always two sides of the coin. Only 1 has been heard.”

Lima has long since deleted the post, and Harvey even apologized for his actions, citing that it was entirely his fault.

After the apology from Harvey, Lima posted a quote taken from St. Francis of Assisi. The post was captioned: "responsibility equals love in what you do.l Thankfully, after this, the situation seemed to calm down.

After the entire debacle of Matt Harvey getting suspended for missing a game. The game was against the Miami Marlins when he was part of the Mets team back in 2017.

As written above, he missed the game because he was an 'emotional wreck' after seeing his ex-girlfriend with a new man. The pitcher was out drinking his heartbreak away the night before the game. However, Matt Harvey was quick to take responsibility for his actions.

In a 2017 interview with ESPN, he said the following:

"First off, as I just did with my teammates and all the coaches, I apologized for my actions and I do apologize for my actions. Obviously, I'm extremely embarrassed by my actions."

He also continued by saying:

"Yes, I was out on Friday night, past curfew. I did play golf Saturday morning, and I put myself in a bad place to be ready to show up for a ballgame. It is my responsibility, and I take full blame for that."

The pitcher seems to have put this behind him. Matt Harvey played with the Mets till 2018 and was later traded to the Cincinnati Reds.

The pitcher will be playing in the 2023 Baseball World Classic after taking a break in 2021.
