When Anthony Bosch stunned the MLB world by implicating Alex Rodriguez in the Biogenesis Scandal

Anthony Bosch, the founder of the Biogenesis clinic, revealed shocking details about New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez's PED use in January 2014.

Biogenesis of America, situated in Florida, was a weight loss and hormone replacement treatment facility. The Biogenesis Scandal erupted in 2013 when an ex-employee, enraged over unpaid back pay, released clinical documents supplying PEDS to multiple MLB players.

Alex Rodriguez reportedly became Anthony Bosch's client in 2010. Bosch appeared on the CBS show "60 Minutes" a year later and claimed:

"Rodriguez was taking testosterone, insulin growth factor 1, human growth hormone and some different forms of peptides . . . all of them banned."

He explained how A-Rod was extra careful with the illegal products he purchased to maximize his competitive advantage on the field.

"Alex cared. Alex wanted to know. He would study the product. He would study the substance. He would study the dosages."

Bosch additionally claimed that he had to inject Rodriguez because the former shortstop was scared of needles.

It was also revealed that Rodriguez paid Bosch a whopping $12,000 a month to acquire PEDs.

According to Sports Illustrated, A-Rod's allies pressed Bosch to sign an affidavit declaring that he never gave the Yankees star PEDs. When Bosch refused to sign it, his ex-girlfriend received a note in Spanish threatening the Biogenesis founder with death.

Alex Rodriguez was suspended by MLB for 211 games

On August 5, 2013, Yankees star Alex Rodriguez was suspended for 211 regular-season games for violating MLB's performance enhancing drug policy. However, the suspension was reduced to 162 games after Rodriguez filed an appeal. He missed the entire 2014 season.

After serving the suspension, Rodriguez reported to New York Yankees' spring training camp in 2015. He played his final MLB game on August 12, 2016. The New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3 at Yankee Stadium.

A-Rod is currently thriving as a successful entrepreneur and businessman. He is also part owner of the NBA franchise Minnesota Timberwolves.
