When controversial Phillies legend Lenny Dykstra called out his friend Charlie Sheen for allegedly abusing his ex-fiancee Brett Rossi

Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies center fielder Lenny Dykstra and American actor Charlie Sheen shared a cordial friendship that lasted over two decades.

While the bromance was there for everyone to see for the better part of 20 years, their friendship took a sour turn towards the end. So much so that the pair were caught exchanging verbal volleys in the media.

Sheen warned the media of how dangerous Dykstra could be. He referred to him as a "drug-addled clown." In return, Dykstra went public about Sheen's alleged altercation with his ex-fiancee Brett Rossi. He referred to him as a "wife beater."

“I am not a saint, but I will not tolerate a man beating a woman,” Dykstra said.

Sheen and Brett Rossi, a model and entertainer, were engaged for nine months in 2014. It went downhill when Rossi sued Sheen for allegedly hiding his HIV-positive status during their relationship.

She sued the actor for assault, battery, emotional distress, false imprisonment, and negligence. Rossi also claimed that Sheen's "physical, psychological, and emotional torment" caused her to go into "an emotional tailspin and become extremely depressed" to the point where she tried to commit suicide.

Lenny Dykstra further told the media about Sheen's HIV diagnosis and how he believed that Sheen was once on the verge of being prosecuted for knowingly spreading his HIV. He also opened up about how Sheen was once under federal investigation for tax and wire fraud.

Watching Sheen land in so much trouble, Dykstra wondered what made him stay in America.

“I don’t know why Charlie doesn’t try to leave the country,” Dykstra said.

Lenny Dykstra most recently spoke about his old friend on the Howard Stern show, reminiscing about how they met and bonded. He went on to spill the beans about their friendship, and the time Sheen told him about his positive HIV test.

The Mets signed Dykstra as a 13th-round draft pick in 1981, and he made his debut against the Cincinnati Reds on May 3, 1985.

Lenny Dykstra was a three-time All-Star and won one World Series with the Mets (1986). He was also the recipient of the Silver Slugger Award in 1993.
