Yesterday, singer Vanessa Hudgens and MLB star Cole Tucker announced their engagement. TMZ reported that the Colorado Rockies utility man and his fiance became engaged after nearly three years of dating.

"It looks like congratulations is in order for Cole Tucker & Vanessa Hudgens. Are they the new baseball couple goals?" - What You Expect?

Although both Cole Tucker and Vanessa Hudgens are celebrities, Hudgens brings true star power to the relationship. After bursting onto the scene in the "High School Musical" series, the actress continues to appear in films and television series. While Hudgens is a worldwide star, Cole Tucker is not exactly a household name.

The 26-year-old MLB player was born in Phoenix, Arizona, attending Mount Pointe High School before beginning his Major League career. His father is African American and his mother is European-American. Cole's brother Carson is also a professional baseball player, and was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2020 MLB draft.

During the 2014 MLB Amature Draft, Tucker was selected with the 24th pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates, one pick ahead of Gold Glove Award winner Matt Chapman. Other notable players taken later than Tucker in the draft include Jordan Romano, Brandon Woodruff and Rhys Hoskins.

After working his way through the Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League system, Tucker made his MLB debut on April 20, 2019, against the San Francisco Giants. During his rookie campaign, Tucker played 56 games for the Pirates, hitting two home runs and 13 RBIs, while also slashing a .211 batting average.

Tucker has spent four seasons in the MLB, all with the Pirates. Throughout those seasons, the utility man has struggled to make much of an impact on a rebuilding Pittsburgh roster. In 152 games at the MLB level, Tucker has hit .211 with five home runs and 35 RBIs.

He was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Diamondbacks during the 2022 season, which happened to be the team he cheered for as a boy. However, by the end of the season, Tucker was outrighted by the D-Backs, entering free agency for the first time in his career.

Cole Tucker will attempt to resurrect his career in Colorado

After being released by Arizona, Tucker signed a Minor League deal with the Colorado Rockies this offseason, looking to work his way back to the MLB. Colorado may be the optimal team for him, as the team is in the middle of a rebuild, which should give the four-year veteran a legitimate opportunity to reach the MLB again.
