The NBA has multiple things that people want changed. Many analysts had things to say about how the league could be better. The changes are simple, too.
This comes from players flagrantly sitting out, not playing back-to-backs and much more. It's tough to argue with many of these analysts as they want players to simply play. It has been a hot topic the past few years, and the issues are only growing.
NBA changes suggested by ESPN analysts
Brian Windhorst spoke about the NBA changes that he's looking for, saying that the league shouldn't play overtime anymore. This one is a bit tougher to agree with because free basketball is awesome for most fans.
"If there was one thing I would change about the NBA, it would be overtime," Windhorst said. "In the G League, they've gone to two-minute overtimes, and they've even been experimenting recently with the Elam ending, having a target score to go to make it quicker and more exciting."
Andrew Lopez said he doesn't want back-to-backs in the same cities.
"While I like the idea of having these baseball series ... back-to-back home games in the same cities, let's spread them out," Lopez said. "There's no reason that the Pelicans and Phoenix have already played all of their games against each other before Christmas."
Bobby Marks wants no more back-to-backs.
"Can we please get rid of back-to-backs?" Marks said. "I am so sick and tired of looking at the box scores or turning on a game and seeing the ugly words of load management rest for some of our All-Stars. Let's get down to 66 games, NBA."
Nick Friedell wants the NBA to have fewer regular-season games. Perhaps fewer regular-season games could have stars playing more.
"Less regular season games," Friedell said. "The players don't care about these regular-season games. The fans don't care about regular-season games."
Ohm Youngmisu blames the medical staffs for teams sitting players. While they definitely do that out of caution, it's an interesting statement.
"It's medical team staffs holding out players out of back-to-back games and minute restrictions," Youngmisu said. "I understand why it's done. We have to keep our star players healthy, but it really stinks when a team shows up and a team plays their only game at a city for the entire regular season.
"Fans buy tickets to see the stars play and that star or stars are held out of the game."
Tim MacMahon doesn't want any technical fouls for taunting or trash talk.
"I am getting rid of technical fouls for taunting, for trash talk," MacMahon said. "If you don't want someone showing you up, if you don't want someone, you know, talking smack in your face, don't let them dunk on you, don't let them cross you over. Let the players put on the show for the fans, and sportsmanship is the most overrated thing in all of sports."
