LeBron James may be tipping his hand on who he’s rooting for when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles play Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs broke the Cincinnati Bengals’ hearts with a late 45-yard field goal from Harrison Butker.
Right after the AFC Championship game, the four-time NBA MVP tweeted:

The Kansas City Chiefs, behind quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce, will be heading to their third Super Bowl in four years. They also avenged last year’s loss to the Bengals on their home floor.
Tonight’s battle royale looked headed to another overtime as it did last year. A 15-yard penalty on defensive end Joseph Ossai for a late hit on Mahomes was the biggest turning point of the game. It set up Butker’s game-winning kick that sent Arrowhead Stadium into a frenzy.
LeBron James, however, might be a little torn when the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles duel for Super Bowl LVII. A few weeks ago, the LA Lakers superstar extolled Philly QB Jalen Hurts:
“Yeah like they were saying. Anybody would look great at QB for the Eagles.. yeah ooook. HATERS MAN!! Jalen Hurts is SPECIAL.”
LeBron James also called Hurts’ critics clowns to show his disapproval of the doubters who have taken shots at the quarterback all season long.
It remains to be seen if James will attend Super Bowl LVII as he did last year at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. This year’s championship game will take place in Glendale, Arizona, on Feb. 12. The LA Lakers don’t have a game on that day, but they’ll be traveling to San Francisco to take on the Golden State Warriors.
LeBron James could be the NBA’s all-time scoring leader when Super Bowl LVII takes place
After a controversial loss to the Boston Celtics, where a late foul wasn’t called on Jayson Tatum, LeBron James now has 38,271 career points. He’s now just 117 points from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabber’s all-time mark of 38,387.
The recently named NBA All-Star team captain will not play tonight’s match against the Brooklyn Nets to rest a sore left ankle. He has five games to play before Super Bowl LVII happens.
Assuming he doesn’t miss any games after his unavailability against the Nets, James needs to average at least 23.2 points to tie Abdul-Jabbar. With the current form he’s been playing, he’ll catapult past that expectation.
The now 19-time NBA All-Star has been on a tear since turning 38 last Dec. 30. He’s averaging a mind-boggling 34.3 points this month, second only to Joel Embiid’s 35.4 PPG.
If LeBron James sustains his January scoring average, he’s tying or overtaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Feb. 7 versus the OKC Thunder. It will be fitting as he will be playing in front of hordes of his faithful at Crypto.com Arena.
