Darlinstone Dubar is a guard for the Tennessee Volunteers men's basketball team and is a fifth-year student as of the 2024-2025 season. Dubar started his collegiate career with the Iowa State Cyclones in 2020. He transferred to Hofstra Pride after his freshman season and stayed there for three seasons. He moved to the Tennessee Volunteers at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. As a freshman, he played 16 games for the Iowa State Cyclones, as per Sports Reference. As a sophomore, he played in all 32 games and received the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. As a junior, he played in 35 games and received the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, again.
A unanimous three-star recruit, Dubar ended as the 150th-best player in the country by Rivals during high school, ranking third in Pennsylvania and 33rd among small forwards. On the 247Sports Composite ranking, he was ranked No. 182 overall, which was excellent for No. 35 at the small forward position and fourth in Pennsylvania. Dubar spent his first three years of high school playing varsity basketball at Rocky River High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, his hometown. After graduating from high school, he chose Iowa State over Auburn, Maryland, Notre Dame, Seton Hall, and Wichita State. Dubar enrolled in Tennessee's master's program in strategic & digital communications. In May 2024, he graduated from Hofstra with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. Dubar chose Tennessee over TCU, Kansas, Kansas State, and Arkansas. The Mr. & Mrs. Robert E. Butler Athletic Scholarship Fund was awarded to him, as per his Tennessee roster page.
