He missed four non-conference games with an injury but came back strong, registering 26 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks against the University of Central Florida. He had three straight double-doubles early in the season, including a career-high 18 rebounds against Saint Joseph's. He also made 12 offensive rebounds, ranking him second in Texas Tech history. Toppin has scored over 20 points in six games and held single-digit figures twice. He was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in December and leads Tech in double-doubles, with 18 in his career and six during the 2024-2025 season.
