Rutgers Ace Bailey collaborated with CBS Sports on Thursday. In the video posted by NBA Future Starts Now, a page dedicated to upcoming big league standouts, the guard is seen behind the mic. He commentated as one player took their chance at an arcade-type mini hoop by CBS Sports.
As Bailey was asked to showcase his skills, he deflected participating in the lighthearted game by citing his suit.
"I just want to be a commentator, I don't want to shoot - my suit too tight," he said.
NBA Future Starts Now playfully mocked the guard in the video with a comment.
"That’s what they allll say 🙄 😂 @acebailey," it captioned the video.
Ace Bailey is fresh off a freshman year with Rutgers and is in the last leg of his NBA draft journey. He averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals on 46.0% shooting, helping the Scarlet Knights to a 15-17 record.
Bailey is a part of the first Scarlet Knights lineup that could feature two first-round picks. He's anticipated to be the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, behind former teammate Dylan Harper and former Blue Devil Cooper Flagg.
However, the latest mock draft by CBS Sports has relegated Bailey to the fifth spot, springing VJ Edgecombe and Tre Johnson above him.
Philadelphia 76ers schedule pre-draft workout with Ace Bailey
Despite CBS Sports' latest speculations, there's still a possibility that Ace Bailey could be the third overall pick on June 25. The Philadelphia 76ers, who own the No. 3 pick in the NBA draft, have scheduled a workout with the guard. It will be a private session, aimed at giving them and GM Elton Brand a look into Bailey's talent.
Bailey's chances to be a top-3 pick is with VJ Edgecombe, who has worked out with Philly and impressed them. Tre Johnson and Khaman Maluach are also notable options for the same pick.
The Philadelphia 76ers are aiming to make a strong push for the NBA championship. Edgecombe and Ace Bailey could be viable options for the franchise to pair up with Tyrese Maxey and Paul George in the backcourt.
