The Oklahoma Sooners have a massive haul from the Class of 2025, managing to secure Aaliyah Chavez, the No. 1-ranked prospect from the class. The Sooners also got four-star shooting guard Keziah Lofton (ranked No. 34) and four-star power forward Brooklyn Stewart (No. 64), making this one of the best recruitment classes for Oklahoma in the NIL era.
All three incoming Oklahoma freshmen then got together for a photo and wore Sooners gear ahead of officially joining the team. Aaliyah Chavez, Keziah Lofton and Brooklyn Stewart are expected to make their official debut for the Sooners in the fall.
Oklahoma women's basketball posted the photo on Instagram on Monday.
Aaliyah Chavez was regarded as one of the best shooters in high school, leading the Monterey Lady Plainsmen to a state championship during her senior year.
She is also one of the most decorated athletes from the Class of 2025, being named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Texas, the Gatorade National Player of the Year, the Naismith National Player of the Year, a McDonald's All-American and more.
As for Brooklyn Stewart, she has been described as an elite rebounder who can also make shots from long range. She is also considered difficult to guard against because of her length.
Finally, Keziah Lofton has been known for her speed and making plays in transition, making her an interesting backcourt partner for a shoot-first point guard like Chavez. She is also a known defender and a good shooter.
Of the three, Aaliyah Chavez is expected to have the biggest impact, with Oklahoma possibly making plays around the high-level 3-point shooter.
Aaliyah Chavez says her college decision was so difficult that it was almost decided via a coin flip
Aaliyah Chavez was choosing between Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, with the Gamecocks being considered the dark horse in the race. She ultimately chose Oklahoma, but the five-star point guard has admitted that this almost did not come to be, as she almost decided which school to go to via a coin flip.
"There was a point where I was just gonna flip a coin, because I love both schools equally," she told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal newspaper.
As for why she ultimately chose Texas, she explained:
"They play fast, and they like to shoot," she said. "If y'all watch me play, I love to shoot, and I play fast. It just kind of matched how I played."
Chavez chose her school late into the season, as she has been open that she found it hard to choose.
