Flau'jae Johnson switches allegiance to Caitlin Clark
Flau'jae Johnson was teammates with Angel Reese for two years when they played for the LSU Tigers and won a national championship together in 2023. They had a rocky relationship during their time at Baton Rouge and it has not improved after Reese's departure to the WNBA.
Johnson revealed during a June 9 segment of the "Breakfast Club" that she was no longer friends with Reese.
"We're not friends, but I mean that bond that we had, that thing that we did together, winning a national championship, you can never take that away from us," Flau'jae Johnson said. "Sometimes stuff happens, you wish it didn't happen, but it does. And you just gotta grow."
During an interview with "Complex," the LSU superstar revealed that she had instead developed a close relationship with Reese's rival, Indiana Fever ace Caitlin Clark.
"I text her (Clark) asking for advice all the time," Johnson said. "I'm like 'how you shoot like this?' and 'why do you do that?' ... Because she is one of the greatest shooters in the world. I feel like, I just be trying to get tips and she like the coolest for willing to help.
"She just got this 'keep going' mentality. Bad games, whatever. Like, keep going to kill. She really got that kill mentality. And that's something that a lot of athletes don't have, people who could like turn that on and off. But I don't think she turn it off."
To add to the intriguing subplot, Flau'jae Johnson even incorporated a Caitlin Clark reference in her song "Help Me," which she released in May. Flau'jae further revealed that she would attend Indiana Fever games this season.
