“Skillset is getting better and better”: Kiyan Anthony draws high praise from renowned coach Chris Joseph Brickley

The work never stops for Kiyan Anthony as renowned hoops coach Chris Joseph Brickley shared a clip of the Syracuse signee doing basketball drills at Summit NYC's The Arena on his Instagram story on Monday.

The video showed Anthony doing 1-on-1 drills against defenders. He showed his speed in the first two possessions, leaving his defenders with a strong move to the basket before finishing with a layup.

The third possession showed Anthony attacking the defense before draining a fadeaway jumper. The final possession showed him stepping back before knocking down an attempt from beyond the arc.

Brickley praised Anthony's progress with a caption:

"Skillset is getting better and better," Brickley wrote after tagging Anthony's Instagram handle. "This is just a few possessions of the live stuff but the workouts are getting more and more detailed and challenging."

Kiyan Anthony is ramping up his preparation for his collegiate debut. He will suit up for Syracuse in the 2025-26 season after he committed to join the Orange in November.

Carmelo Anthony became a legend at Syracuse after he led the Orange to their first-ever national championship in 2003. He scored 33 points and collected 14 rebounds in the Final Four game against Texas before dropping 20 points, 10 boards and seven assists in the title win against Kansas.

Coach Adrian Autry added several players to his lineup this offseason after Syracuse finished the previous campaign with a 14-19 slate. He secured the commitments of Nate Kingz, Tyler Betsey, Bryce Zephir, Naithan George, Ibrahim Souare and William Kyle, who all entered the transfer portal.

George joined Syracuse after spending two seasons with Georgia Tech. He dazzled in his sophomore year with the Yellow Jackets, averaging 12.3 points, 6.5 dimes and 4.2 boards in the 2024-25 season. Souare suited up for Georgia Tech last season, averaging 2.8 points and 3.6 rebounds through 30 games in his freshman year.

Apart from Kiyan Anthony, Autry also managed to land several top high school prospects for the Class of 2025. They include Sadiq White Jr, Luke Fennell and Aaron Womack.
