During his senior season, he averaged 20.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, earning him the title of District 7-6A Offensive MVP. His high school team achieved remarkable success, finishing with a national ranking of No. 1 among public school teams and No. 2 overall in ESPN's national rankings during his senior year. Over his high school career, Griffen scored more than 2,000 points.

Griffen began his collegiate basketball career with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2022.
