The Detroit Lions picked former Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold at No. 24 in the NFL draft. The Lions got Terrion after they traded up from pick No. 29 to No. 24 with the CB falling below draft projections.

In the pre-draft activities, the cornerback was pictured in an all-red suit, paying homage to the Crimson Tide, before changing into his draft suit.

At the ceremony, Terrion Arnold wore a pink suit, with his football journey and the catchphrase "LANK" emblazoned on the inside of the blazer and a chain with "ROSA" embossed on it. He also sported the $870 Louis Vuitton Escape square sunglasses.

Terrion Arnold was the Lions' priority target

In Terrion Arnold, Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes picked an Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback in the draft for a second consecutive year after selecting Brian Branch in the second round last year.

After the draft, Holmes expressed his delight at the draft working out exactly as the Lions had planned it on their draft board.

“Yeah, I mean, I was calling late teens,” Holmes said. “I was calling just trying to see. I didn’t think he [Terrion Arnold] was going to be there. Really, didn’t think he was going to be there calling late teens, but really trying and thinking we were going to have to settle for a different player at a different position but still trade up.
"I don't want to say speechless, but overly thrilled how tonight went," Holmes said. "It happened to match up the best football player (on our board) and was an area where we wanted to add one [cornerback] at some point."

Arnold's Alabama career was full of ups and downs, from redshirting his freshman year to getting benched during his second season after a run of poor form. It was only last season that he cemented himself as a starter.

Very few people know Terrion Arnold as well as retired Alabama coach Nick Saban, whose wife Miss Terry had a special relationship with the cornerback.

During his slot as an analyst on ESPN's "College GameDay," the now-retired Saban spoke about Arnold fondly.

"This guy's a special guy," Saban said. "He's got a great personality. Everybody loves him. He started the whole LANK [Let all naysayers know] thing, and he followed that and really committed himself to being the best player he could be, being a leader. This guy's [Terry's] favorite. ... He comes to our house and plays Rummikub. He sits right beside me in the defensive meeting every day."

Terrion Arnold has been described by both teammates and coaches as charismatic.
