A newly released still from WB Discovery for The Flash has not only confirmed the presence of musician and YouTuber, Rudy Mancuso and Derry Girls' Saoirse-Monica Jackson in the film but has also revealed the characters that they are playing.

According to WB Discovery, Mancuso and Jackson will be essaying the roles of Albert Desmond and Patty Spivot, respectively. In the recently released still, Mancuso's Desmond and Jackson's Spivot can be seen standing next to Ezra Miller's Barry Allen.

Desmond and Spivot previously appeared in Grant Gustin's The Flash series on The CW, where the former was portrayed by Tom Felton of Harry Potter fame, and the latter was played by The Boys' Shantel VanSanten. Both Albert Desmond and Patty Spivot have also had supporting roles in the comics featuring the Scarlet Speedster.

It remains to be seen how Rudy Mancuso's Desmond and Saoirse Monica-Jackson's Spivot will factor into the upcoming film. However, from what was seen in the recently released stills by WB Discovery, there is a strong possibility that they will serve as colleagues of Ezra Miller's Barry Allen from the Central City Police Department's (CCPD) crime investigation sector.

As mentioned above and confirmed by industry insiders, Rudy Mancuso will be essaying the role of Albert Desmond, who in the comics, is an enemy of The Flash known as Doctor Alchemy. Saoirse Monica-Jackson will be playing Patty Spivot, who appears as an assistant and friend to The Flash's alter-ego Barry Allen, in the crime investigation sector of Central City's police department (CCPD).

In the comics, Albert Desmond is a chemist who lives with dissociative identity disorder. He has two personalities: one rather normal one that is his main personality and another one that is a personality tied to his criminal tendencies.

Using his personality with criminal tendencies and knowledge of chemistry, Desmond creates the villainous identity of Mister Element and creates elemental-based weapons such as bulletproof silicon. He soon discovers a new element known as Elemento, a magnetic light that has immense power. At one point he uses Elemento to send The Flash into space.

Mister Element is eventually defeated by the Scarlet Speedster and sent to prison, following their first encounter. While in prison, he learns from a cellmate about the existence of a mysterious object known as The Philosopher's Stone. After finding the object, he uses its transmutative properties to restart his criminal career as Doctor Alchemy.

His criminal career ends when his normal personality makes him quit crime. However, a new Doctor Alchemy appears and it is eventually revealed to be Albert's astral twin Alvin, who is a construct of the Philosopher's Stone, formed from Albert's criminal personality. Albert soon defeats Alvin and reclaims the identity of Doctor Alchemy.

As for Patty Spivot in the comics, she serves as a friend and assistant forensic scientist to The Flash's alter-ego, Barry Allen in the Central City Police Department's forensic science section, and has an unrequited crush on him. She is later promoted to the position of a full-time forensic blood analyst at the CCPD.

In the comics, she often helps Barry Allen/Flash with multiple cases, such as investigating the death of a superhero known as Elongated Kid and also helping him and Kid Flash (Bart Allen) stop one of Reverse-Flash's schemes. She also briefly becomes a superhero known as Hot Pursuit.

Patty as Hot Pursuit is eventually killed by Brainiac in a fight between the alien warlord and herself. However, she is soon restored to life when Barry Allen creates The New 52 timeline following the Flashpoint storyline. In this timeline, she briefly enters a relationship with Barry as he is not married to Iris West, but later breaks up with him.

The Flash is set to hit theaters on June 16, 2023.
