Hashim Amla, one of the greatest South African batsman, is also the first African cricketer to score a triple century in Tests. After making his Test debut in 2004, Amla made his ODI debut in 2008. The classy right-handed batsman did not take much time to adapt to the format and went onto to become the fastest batsmen to 2,000 (40 innings), 3,000 (57 innings), 4,000 (81 innings) and 5,000 (101 innings) runs in ODI cricket.

Amla, who was the top-ranked Test batsman in 2013, has scored 9093 runs in the longest format at an impressive average of 47.35. He also scored 40 fifties and 28 half-centuries in Test cricket. His record in the 50-over format is even better as he averages 49.65 in 169 matches.

Steve Waugh, the eldest of the Waugh brothers, made his international debut as 20-year old in the Boxing Day Test against India at the MCG in 1985. Days after making his Test debut, he made his ODI debut against New Zealand in January 1986. He went onto become the first Australian (with Tom Moody) to win two World Cups - first in 1987 as a player and in 1999 as the captain.

In the 168 matches that he played for Australia, he scored 10927 runs at an average of 51.06. In his Test career spanning nearly 20 years, the Australian legend has hit 32 centuries and 50 half-centuries. His ODI career has seen many ups and downs before he got axed from the side in 2003. In 325 matches, he scored 7569 for Australia at an average of 32.90.

He belongs to an elite class of batsmen who score two triple centuries in Tests with a high score of 333. He is only amongst the handful batsman who scored a double century in ODIs. He is also the first batsman to score a century in T20 Internationals. He recorded a 57-ball 117 against South Africa in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Playing for the West Indies, he scored 18548 runs in all three formats including 38 centuries.

After the match-fixing controversies of 2000, it was Sourav Ganguly who helped India get back on track with his leadership. As a result of his captaincy, India made it to the World Cup final in 2003 where they lost to Australia. Ganguly and Tendulkar formed one of the most destructive opening pairs in the history of cricket.

Regarded by many as the God on the off-side, the classy southpaw is one of the greatest Indian batsmen. In ODI cricket, he scored 11363 runs in 300 innings with a high score of 183 which was recorded against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup. His highest score in Tests was 239 which came against Pakistan at Bengaluru in 2007.
