Paul Hibbert

Paul Anthony Hibbert was an Australian cricketer who played a solitary test for his country in 1977. After a strong 1974-75 club season during which he scored 486 runs at an average of 69, Hibbert was first picked into the Victorian squad. He was so good for the Victorian team that within 3 years after his first-class debut, he became a contender for a test call.

At the beginning of 1977–78 season, Indian team toured Australia for a two-match test series. India played a warm-up match with Victoria at Melbourne and Paul was a part of it. Paul made exactly 100 runs in that match but he reached that figure without a single boundary.

As Australia’s specialist openers were out of form for the series against India, Hibbert was picked in the team as an opener. But, Hibbert failed to live up to the expectations and was sacked from the team after that match. He had never got a chance to play for his country again.
