As Hardik Pandya was rested, Shankar got his chance as a like for like replacement. Somewhat of a late bloomer, the 27-year-old has an impressive average of 47.24 in first-class cricket.
He also showcased his hitting prowess in this years IPL as he finished games for his team Delhi Daredevils on multiple occasions. His medium pace is quite decent as well, having won the man of the match award in the league stages of the Nidahas trophy.
So he can be tried at number 6 in the future as a potential finisher.
