Deepak Hooda made his name during the under-19 World Cup

Deepak Hooda made an instant impact during his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals in 2015 where he showcased his attacking skills with a strike rate of 159 in that year's IPL.

But he soon faded away as he could not produce consistent performances. But that is common with every young player. In recent years he has started to work on his consistency and he currently averages 49.64 in his first-class career, with the highest score of 293*.

He is primarily a middle order batsman who can bowl decent off breaks when necessity arrives. His inclusion could solve two problems for India; Firstly, he could be used as a potential finisher (at 4 down) given his big hitting prowess, and secondly, he will provide a sixth bowling option for the skipper.

Hooda's brilliant fielding will be a bonus. As a result, he can be seen as a potential option for number 5 or number 6 positions, given his big-hitting abilities and his spin bowling ability.
