Having lost all their previous fixtures in the tournament against Australia, Team India were once again set to fight Australia for the title in the finals.

Sachin Tendulkar was in sublime form in the tournament and had played a pivotal role in taking the team to the finals. He was a key factor for India in the finals too.

Batting first, Aussies scored 272-9 in their allotted 50 overs. Chasing 273 against the mighty Aussies was really a challenging task, and who other than Tendulkar would have savoured such a challenge?

Sachin displayed a brilliant piece of artistic batsmanship and unleashed some breathtaking shots. He spared none of the Australian bowlers and scored a splendid 134 off 131 deliveries. He smashed 12 fours and 3 sixes in the process.

He did not stay till the end but ensured that the team was on its way to victory.

India won the finals by six wickets. Sachin was adjudged Man of the Match for his exemplary performance. With 434 runs to his name, he was the highest run-getter in the tournament. He was the Man of the Series too.
