#2 Gautam Gambhir (Opener)

Image result for Gambhir.

The dashing opening batsman, who made his Test debut against Australia in 2004 has represented India in 58 Tests. India lagged the opening partnership which if provided would have given the platform for the middle order to express themselves in the two Tests. Gambhir has plenty of experience in this form of the game and has scored 4154 runs at an average of 41.96. In the first Test, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay opened the innings while KL Rahul and Murali Vijay opened in the second test. Both the combinations failed terribly as none of them crossed fifty.

Gambhir will be a valuable addition to the Indian test squad as he adds the experience to the Indian opening which has backfired in the recent past. He also has the experience of playing in England as he was part of the Indian test squad in 2011.
