#2 Kedar Jadhav

Jadhav bowed out of the IPL after sustaining a hamstring injury in the very first game of the league and going into a rehab. Consequently, he was not included in the England-bound ODI squad. He was replaced by Rayudu who had a wonderful IPL season but, unfortunately for him, he could not clear the yo-yo test and had to make way for Suresh Raina at the last minute. It all seemed a part of a divine plan to give Raina a few more opportunities but, as it so happened, he squandered each one of them in the ODI series. He could muster only 47 runs in two innings at a sub-par strike-rate of 70. In both of the innings, India needed him to play his best game but, he failed to deliver on it. He is likely to be replaced again by Jadhav as a result.

The inclusion of Jadhav will serve India well as they find themselves unable to solve the middle-order conundrum. Given Dhoni's waning abilities with the bat and Hardik's inconsistency at the back end of the innings, Jadhav may be the finisher India is looking for. Not only can he hold the fort at one end when needed he can also tear the bowlers apart in his late flourishes. Moreover, his part-time spin will be an added advantage to the Indian bowling attack which still lacks a proper fifth bowling option. With all these advantages that Jadhav will bring with himself to the team, it is likely he gets a recall into the Australia-bound ODI squad.
