KL Rahul became the ninth player to be added to this list and is the most recent addition. It was the fifth and final test match in England's Tour of India in late 2016 when KL Rahul opened the batting with Parthiv Patel in Chennai. England had posted a daunting 477 on the board with a hundred from Moeen Ali and half centuries from Joe Root, Craig Dawson and Adil Rashid.

The swashbuckling opener from Karnataka didn't hold himself back and unleashed himself on the England bowlers. On a spinning track, India always held the advantage and both Parthiv Patel and Rahul played exceedingly well before the former departed after scoring 71 and India's score was 152/1. Cheteshwar Pujara was the new man in and he got out soon after scoring 16 runs and captain Virat Kohli shared a similar story as he departed after scoring 15 runs.

In came fellow Karnataka batsman Karun Nair who was set to make the headlines the following day. The duo plundered the England bowlers and Karun was exemplary and displayed his class to the whole world. Rahul played a few old school shots which were pleasing to the eye as India were cruising. He was on 199 and India's score was 372/3 when Adil Rashid bowled the 103rd over and in the third ball of the over, Rahul attempted to cut the ball past the man at point but ended up edging it and Buttler held on for a good catch.

India's momentum didn't reduce after Rahul's dismissal as Murali Vijay scored 29, Ashwin scored 67, and Jadeja scored a quick fire 51 and ably supported Karun Nair who was on fine form that day. India declared after Karun Nair reached his triple century and their score was 759/7 as Karun Nair had scored 303 off 381 balls while KL Rahul had scored 199 off 311 balls.

India ended up winning the match by an innings and 75 runs and Karun Nair was rightfully adjudged the Man of the Match. Nair, despite that splendid innings, doesn't have a place in the current Indian squad while KL Rahul too has found himself in and out of the squad.
