Australia v England - Fifth Test: Day 2
Steve Smith rescued Australia with
a brilliant innings
against West Indies

Steve Smith is currently one of the most popular cricketers and is churning out runs for fun. He has mastered the art of scoring and is making it look so effortless. Smith has become a synonym to the word consistency and is the mainstay of Australian batting lineup.

Australia toured West Indies for a 2-match Test series in 2015. After destroying the hosts in the first Test and winning it in an emphatic fashion, the visitors were looking to win the second Test and go home with the trophy. West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first at Sabina Park. Jerome Taylor struck very early in the innings and the Aussies were reduced to 16-2 in no time.

The skipper then started the rescue mission and registered key partnerships with the middle-order batsmen en route to a terrific century. However, he became the third Australian cricketer to be dismissed on 199 when he got trapped leg before by Taylor. This was his highest individual score and also the second time that he got dismissed in 190s. The first time he got dismissed was against India in 2014.

The rejuvenated Australian bowlers then delivered and rattled the West Indies batsmen. The visitors won the game quite convincingly and Smith was adjudged the Man of the Match.
