Karnataka has always performed well at the domestic level and has been very consistent, regardless of the format. Many great players from the state have gone on to play for the Indian team.

Yet, due to the high competition and a large pool of talented cricketers, many of the players get left out. Here is a list of Karnataka players who switched to other teams due to one reason or the other.

#5 Ganesh Satish

Ganesh Satish is one of the finest batsmen from Karnataka. As a young and talented batsman, he represented the Indian U-19 team and was subsequently picked for the Karnataka Ranji squad. He continued to produce impressive performances for his side.

He has scored 2445 runs in 66 innings at an average of 43.65, but wasn't given enough chances due to the plethora of batting options and also was pushed down the order. So finally he made a call to move to Vidarbha, who were ready to invest in talented players with potential.

"I think I didn't get a fair run in the last season, so there was uncertainty about my future. I thought moving out and to play as a professional was the best thing for my career at the moment. Hope it comes off", Satish said about his move.

Karnataka's regular opener Pawan was a player who got selected into the team after scoring hundreds in all the 10 matches that he played in the first division of the Mysore League. He averages 33 in the longer format and 32 in the 50-over format. Pawan has scored over 3000 runs for Karnataka.

He lost his place in the Ranji team to the young KL Rahul. Being uncertain of finding a place in the team, he signed up for Tripura. After a season with Tripura, he moved to Kerala.

“Somehow, I was considered not good for the one-dayers while I played for Karnataka; I had only played six one-day games before the Hyderabad tournament”, he said.

#3 Amit Verma

Amit along with his teammate KB Pawan moved to the Kerala Ranji team in 2014 since he wasn't getting enough games to play. After one season with Kerala, he was called upon to join the Assam team where he played for 2 seasons.

Ronit More is known for his pace and ability to move the ball off the pitch. The speedster announced his arrival to domestic cricket by picking 6 wickets in his first ever match for Karnataka. Even though he played only 12 matches he had figures of 7/77.

Karnataka already had an experienced bowling attack with Vinay Kumar, Abhimanyu Mithun and Sreenath Arvind. Hence, it was very difficult for Ronit to cement his spot in the side. Considering this, he decided to move on and signed with Himachal Pradesh for the Ranji season 2016/17.

#1 Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa is arguably the highest profile departure

As a batsman, Uthappa has always been a treat to watch. Being a hard-hitting batsman, with every shot in the book, he has scored a lot of runs at all levels and across all formats. He averages over 40 in the longest format even after playing 136 matches.

In 2013/14, he had a wonderful domestic season in which Karnataka achieved a rare feat by winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup and Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Uthappa had been a part of the Karnataka team from the age of 17. But, earlier this year, he ended his 15-year service with the Karnataka State Cricket Association. Two teams were in line to rope him up before he moved to Saurashtra.
