India's batting order completely surrendered to Lanka's seamers as they were bowled out for 112 runs in the first ODI of the series.

Having won the toss, Thisara Perera decided to bowl first and was soon rewarded with a handful of wickets by his pace bowlers. Indian batsmen failed to handle the Lankan seamers as none of their top-order batsmen reached the double digit mark and India struggled at 16-5.

A lone battle from MS Dhoni saved humiliation for team India as his 65 off 87 balls helped his side to cross the 100-run mark. It seemed like Virat Kohli was missed badly who had been the pillar of India's batting in recent times.

While India registered their fifth lowest total against Lanka in ODI's, let us take a quick look at some of the lowest totals recorded in the matches between India and Sri Lanka.

#5 Sri Lanka - 98 all out - Sharjah, 9 November 1998

In a low-scoring fourth game of the Coca-Cola Champions trophy, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 98 in reply to India's 179.

India were restricted to 36-4 early on as their top-order failed to provide the start their team wanted from them. However, Ajay Jadeja's patient innings and some crucial contributions from the lower order made sure that India crossed 150. With one ball remaining, India were all out for 179 with the help of Ajay Jadeja's vital knock of 65 runs.

Defending a low total, Indian seamers did their job perfectly as they picked few much needed early wickets. Lanka's batting order failed to establish a steady partnership as Indian bowlers continued to pick wickets in quick intervals.

Sri Lanka failed to cross the 100-run mark as they were cleaned up for 98. Ajit Agarkar was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant opening spell.

#4 Sri Lanka - 96 all out - Port of Spain, 9 July 2013

In the sixth game of the Tri-Nation series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's excellent opening spell sealed the game for India in a rain-affected fixture.

Batting first, India soon lost their first wicket as Shikhar Dhawan was caught off Angelo Mathews' bowling. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma managed to put on a partnership before Kohli got out for 31. Rangana Herath took his second wicket as Dinesh Karthik was deceived by the spinner's delivery.

Rain interrupted the play and India's innings ended abruptly at 29 overs when they had scored 119 runs. The target was adjusted to 178 in 26 overs for the Lankans according to the D/L method.

Chasing a challenging target, Sri Lanka were rocked down early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent the top-4 back to the pavilion. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took care of the middle order while Ishant Sharma finished off the lower order.

Sri Lanka were all out for 96 runs, falling short of the target by 81 runs.

Indian seamers ensured a comfortable victory for their side in the second game of the Asia Cup in which India won comprehensively by 10 wickets.

Having forced to bat first, Sri Lanka's top order tumbled to the excellent seam bowling of Indians. They were reduced to 26-4 with their top-4 back in the pavilion.

Ranjan Madugalle was their only player who managed to spend some time in the crease as he added 38 crucial runs to their total. However, Indian pacers were back with their wicket-taking deliveries as they cleaned down the lower order of Sri Lanka to restrict them to 96.

Chasing an easy target, Indian openers were never troubled by the Lankan bowlers as they reached the target without loss of any wicket within 22 overs.

Arjuna Ranatunga - India vs Sri Lanka

India were cleaned up for 78 runs in reply to Sri Lanka's 195 in the first ODI of the 1986 series, registering their second lowest score against the Lankans.

Kapil Dev struck twice in the initial overs as he sent both the opening batsmen back to the pavilion. Ranatunga and Gurusinha put on a crucial fourth wicket partnership before Bharat Arun ended Gurusinha's stay at the crease.

Valuable contributions from the lower order ensured a decent score for the Lankans as they managed to post a total of 196 runs in the allotted 46 overs.

Ratnayake and Ranatunga ran all over India's batting order as the batsmen were clueless against the Lankan bowlers. Apart from Kris Srikkanth and Dilip Vengsarkar, none of the Indian batsmen touched the double figure mark as they were miserably bundled out for 78 runs.

Arjuna Ranatunga was awarded the man of the match for his impressive all-round display.

In an all important final of the Coca-Cola Champions Trophy, India suffered a humiliating loss by 245 runs against their neighbours.

Sri Lankan skipper Sanath Jayasuriya took the matters in his own hands as he destroyed the bowling of Indians single handedly. Despite the fall of wickets at the other end, Jayasuriya continued to smash the bowlers all around the park.

Russel Arnold provided a supporting knock at the other end as he reached his half-century. The big partnership was finally broken by Sourav Ganguly who took the crucial wicket of Sanath Jayasuriya as the Lankan got out for 189 runs in 161 balls. Sri Lanka put on a score of 299 and held the driver seat in the crucial final.

Chasing a challenging total, Indian batting order was ripped apart by Chaminda Vaas' swing and Muralidharan's spin. India were wrapped up for 54 runs, registering the lowest score in One day Internationals.

Sanath Jayasuriya was awarded the man of the match for his scintillating batting display in the decisive final.
