In the sixth game of the Tri-Nation series, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's excellent opening spell sealed the game for India in a rain-affected fixture.

Batting first, India soon lost their first wicket as Shikhar Dhawan was caught off Angelo Mathews' bowling. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma managed to put on a partnership before Kohli got out for 31. Rangana Herath took his second wicket as Dinesh Karthik was deceived by the spinner's delivery.

Rain interrupted the play and India's innings ended abruptly at 29 overs when they had scored 119 runs. The target was adjusted to 178 in 26 overs for the Lankans according to the D/L method.

Chasing a challenging target, Sri Lanka were rocked down early as Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent the top-4 back to the pavilion. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took care of the middle order while Ishant Sharma finished off the lower order.

Sri Lanka were all out for 96 runs, falling short of the target by 81 runs.
