This was one of the most talked about controversies that happened and went on for pretty long time. It was in 2005 when Indian team management replaced John Wright as the coach and Greg Chappell took over. Former Indian skipper was then balancing the pressure of captaincy and run with the bat.

Chappell told him that the pressure of captaincy may be affecting his batting and the whole team was suffering because of the same.

After hitting a ton in the first Test, soon after the incident, he informed the media that he was asked to resign. The whole affair took a big turn as Chappell wrote an email to the board giving the details of the disagreements between both of them.

It took about a year for Ganguly to regain his spot after being dismissed as the captain of the Indian Cricket team and being dropped from ODIs.
