Dilshan is the latest entry to an elite list

The ever-changing nature of cricket means that One Day Internationals (ODIs) barring the ICC Cricket World Cup aren't as celebrated as they once were. Yet, records achieved in the format, due the nature of the game have never been more interesting.

Scoring 10,000 ODI runs is a lot more difficult than taking 100 ODI wickets. After all, a lot more have done the latter and only a select few have done the former. But to do both is a rarity. So rare in fact that only five players have managed to achieve the double of scoring 10,000 runs and taking 100 wickets in ODIs.

So here is the list of players who have managed the unique feat of scoring 10,000 runs and picking up 100 ODI wickets.

5. Tillakaratne Dilshan

The latest entry into this elite club was Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan, who recently announced his retirement. When he went past the 10,000 ODI run mark against Pakistan, he became only the 11th cricketer to cross that milestone and the fourth Sri Lankan cricketer to achieve it.

With already over a hundred wickets to his name at the time, he also became only the fifth player achieve the unique double of 10,000 runs and 100 wickets in ODIs. While his achievements are incredible, such was the quality of players before him that he is fifth on this list in terms of runs scored and has the worst bowling average and second-lowest number of wickets.

However, he finished his ODI career, which spanned 330 matches with 10,290 runs at an average of just under 40 and 106 wickets at an average of 45.07. However, he is the second Sri Lankan to achieve this unique feat.
