Patel was not picked, with Washington Sundar getting the nod
The Gujarat all-rounder, who has largely been on the fringes thanks to the stellar performances of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, was not picked in the squad as the selectors opted to go for Washington Sundar as the finger-spinner option.

The 24-year-old, who last featured for India in ODI cricket against New Zealand last year, has not had the best of IPLs with the Kings XI Punjab and he did not make any impact in the Vijay Hazare Trophy either.
However, Patel will be playing county cricket for Durham in August and a good time there with both bat and ball could get him back in the reckoning.
