Mohammed Shami needs 1 more wicket to complete 100 ODI wickets

Just a few months before the World Cup starts, Mohammed Shami has stolen the limelight and made his selection in limited-overs format a case to think about for the selectors. He bowled brilliantly in the previous edition of the World Cup in 2015 and was the second highest wicket-taker for India in that tournament. However, the 28-year old had to go through a knee surgery which eventually made him a less effective bowler. His inconsistency didn't allow the selectors to trust him, especially with the white ball.

But the sun once again rose for Shami. As Bumrah was rested in the recently concluded ODI series against the Kangaroos and with Hardik Pandya serving the ban, Mohammed Shami was given a chance in the playing XI in the first match of the ODI series. Shami proved his worth in gold and ended up being the most economical bowler for India in that match. He continued his form in the rest of the series as well and is now expected to perform in the same manner in the ODI series against the Kiwis. He is also just one wicket away from reaching the 100-wicket milestone and the UP-born fast bowler will undoubtedly like to achieve this record on the upcoming tour.
