Ever since Shikhar Dhawan made his international debut back in 2010, there has been no looking back for him. However, he faced some ups and down in the initial years of his career but after performing consistently in the 2012-13 season and then the Champions Trophy 2013, the Delhi-born has been unstoppable. He is now the permanent opener of the Indian team and is one of the best openers in white ball cricket at the moment. His splendid performances in ICC Tournaments and consistent performance at the top order has helped him to reach greater heights.

The southpaw now requires just 10 more runs to set foot on the milestone of 5000 ODI runs. The 33-year old has currently scored 4990 runs and is just one step away from becoming the second fastest Indian to achieve it after Virat Kohli. And if Shikhar does it inside 118 innings, he'll also become the 4th fastest batsman to reach this milestone surpassing Brian Lara. The fans will surely hope that Gabbar does it as it will not only add another feather to Shikhar's cap but will also help the Indian team in the long run.
